What Does It Mean To Be A Medium?

One of the most common questions I am asked is what is the difference between a medium and a psychic.
The term "psychic" is often used as a phrase for anyone who works in the paranormal. We know what our five senses are - sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. But we have another sense that is equally as real as the other five.

Often referred to as our sixth sense, psychic ability, or our intuition, is the gut feeling or hunch you have that you cannot logically explain. Everyone is psychic to some degree or another, but not everyone is a medium.

A medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned his or her extrasensory perception and can communicate with the spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices or mental impressions from the spirit world. A medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirit people vibrate.

Being a Medium is much more involved than being psychic because a medium is opening him/herself to a discarnate energy (a soul without a body). The most common type of mediumship is mental mediumship, which is how I work with my abilities.

I communicate with spirits while fully conscious. This form of mediumship utilizes the mind - the intuitive mind, not the rational or logical part. This type of mental mediumship falls into several distinct types which are described as:

Clairsentience - (clear feeling) Perceive information by way of strong, emphatic feelings and emotions from spirit.

Clairvoyant - (clear vision) See with the mind's eye objects, colors, symbols, people, spirits or scenes. These pictures are not visible to the naked eye and usually flash into the medium's mind.

Clairaudient - (clear hearing) Perceive sounds or words from sources broadcasting from a spiritual realm.

Clairempathy - (clear emotion) Sense or "feel" within one's self the attitude or emotions of another person.

Clairscent - (clear smelling). Smell a fragrance or odor coming from the spirit.

In my work I most often utilize the abilities of clairsentience and clairvoyance. In order to attune to the thoughts and feelings of spirit, I raise my vibrations higher through meditation and, in turn, spirit has to lower its vibrations somewhat.

The second type of mediumship is physical mediumship and it differs from mental mediumship. In physical mediumship the actually physical body is used to get information from spirit. In mental mediumship only the mind of the medium is utilized. Channeling is a well-known form of physical mediumship.

Certain individuals are more prone to mediumship than others. Usually they must develop mediumship skills over a period of time. If you would like to learn more about intuition, psychic development, life after death, grief support, angels, guides, and healing, I encourage you to take a take a look at my upcoming workshop "Psychic Development 101, I share personal techniques to help you develop your own natural psychic abilities.

Psychic Reading or Mediumship Reading! Which one is right for you?

This is a very common question that I receive from my clients so I wanted to take the time to clarify it. A Mediumship Reading is a good idea if you are grieving the loss of a loved one and wish to make contact or have some kind of poof that they are fine and that there really is an after life. Generally this is what I do, connect with your loved ones who have passed on.

Psychic Mediums or channels have the ability to communicate with the spirit side of life. They can communicate with the deceased, as well as with other entities such as guides, angels or even your higher self.

People who use the term "Psychic Medium" do so in order to let you know that they also have clairvoyant vision or some other psychic skill in addition to the ability to communicate with spirit.

If you are looking for clarity around a specific area of you life (should I marry, will I get the job, advice about love, business, money etc ), you would definatel want to receive a Psychic Reading. This is a much better reading if you are looking for specific answers.

I say this because generally during a mediumship reading I will be relaying information that I am receiving from your guides or deceased loved ones.

Some guides will not give you answers to what they consider trivial questions. Some will only give information that will help you spiritually. Guides are like people, and have different interests and specialties. You can always Ask me about the guides I work with.
Just know that Guides are high spiritual beings of Light who are always giving you information for your highest and best good.

I hope this provided you with some clarity about the difference between Psychic and Mediumship Reading.

Blessings,

Liz
